As an electrician I provide electrical repairs in the areas of Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead and any other places within a 10 miles radius.

CEILING LIGHT REPLACEMENT

Most light replacements are straightforward and don't require much preparation, but some are in a difficult area to reach, for example above a stairwell, where your ordinary ladder can't be used, hence it is important to let the electrician know where the light is located.

I can replace the following lights for you:

Usually, for light replacements I will need the location of light, for example if you can snap a picture of the light's location in relation to the floor, what light you want replaced and a picture of the new light or a link to it so I can check specs. (weight for example)

Cabinet light installation

When you need a light in your wardrobe, cupboard or cabinet, but you don't want electricity in your wardrobe or in your children's cabinet where children have access to, then I can provide a safe solution to install battery powered or rechargeable lights. I can supply and install cabinet lights for wardrobes, cupboards, any storage areas, or even in garden sheds or summer houses where there is no access to electricity.

LIGHT SWITCH REPLACEMENT

PULL CORD SWITCH REPLACEMENT

Changing pull cord switches are one of my most commonly asked for jobs and often the only switch permitted in the bathroom, hence it is important that the switch functions properly at all times.

There are three most common parts that break:

• First is the pull chord - often, the inside of the pull cord switch can break
• Second is the back place can break and disengage from ceiling.
• Third is the inner mechanism can wear out.

ELECTRICIAN - DIMMER SWITCH REPLACEMENT

If your light flickers when you turn the dimmer, it's time for a new dimmer. I provide:

• dimmer replacement for halogen lights
• dimmer replacement for LED lights
• change dimmer switch to regular switch
• changing light switch to a dimmer - in that case I need to know what bulbs you have (halogen or LED) and the total wattage. If unsure, please call me

Please let me know if you are buying dimmers or switches yourself, so I can drive straight to yours, or if you need me to buy some for you, then I will need notice in advance to source the correct dimmers.

In case you want replace a regular switch for dimmer, please check what bulbs you have before buying dimmers.

There are installers around, but not all them have enough knowledge about dimmers, hence I am called so often to rectify flickering or broken dimmers, so here I summarized the most important facts you need to know to get a proper dimmable light.

• Although all halogen bulbs are dimmable,
• Halogen 12V bulbs with transformers have to have a dimmable transformer.
• Not all LED bulbs are be dimmable.
• Low voltage (12V) LED bulbs require LED driver.
• Dimmable LED lights have two basic categories- with leading edge and with trailing edge - each require the appropriate dimmer.

POWER SOCKET REPLACEMENT

I provide electrical socket replacement services. Most power socket replacements are required in Windsor, perhaps due to the amount of old houses in need of updates, and I am also called for socket repair in Slough and Maidenhead. I replace electrical sockets either where required due to update, but also due to damage or a switch breaking.

In recent years, many people require electrical outlets wit USB sockets to charge their mobile phones and also power sockets with a wifi repeater. I suggest to measure the depth of your power socket body as they are usually deeper and don't always fit in back-box in the wall.

Please bear in mind that during power plug replacements, there will be no power, so it is best to schedule these services during daytime.

Power cable repair

Some people prefer to do jobs around the house themselves, particularly hanging pictures or shelves on walls... and it's great, but people often forget to check for cables in the wall, so when the customer drills into a wall and hits a power cable, it usually makes a spark, sometimes with a loud effect and a blown fuse. I get calls where the words 'sparking' and 'blown fuses' dominate a lot. It is a stressful situation when it happens. Do not panic, just give me call, I will help you out.

I have done repairs after people accidentally drilled to a cable in the wall. You can see on the image here how the cable in the wall looks like when a customer accidentally drilled through cable and called me for repair. I cut out a hole - the size of electrical back box, installed it, joint the cable and put a blank plate over. It could have been plastered over, but it is better if it is accessible, just in case you need access in future .
